Requirements:

• Matric with Mathematics and Technical Drawing as subjects
• Minimum five year experience in a similar role
• Conventional horizontal lathe and vertical borer experience essential
• Must be able to cut keyways up to 60 mm wide and achieve shaft tolerances of 0.02mm
  • Max swing diameter over bed – Ø1 640 mm
  • Max swing diameter over tool post – Ø1 230 mm
  • Distance between centers – 5 000 mm
  • Max turning length – 4 800 mm
  • Max loading capacity – 10 000 kg
  • Width of bed – 1 100 mm
  • Spindle bore – Ø 130 mm
  • Mechanical trade will be advantageous

• Lathe Specifications

• Valid code 8 driver’s licence and own transport

Duties (including but not limited to):

• Monitoring and watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.
• Controlling operations of equipment.
• Monitoring and assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Conducting tests and inspections of products and processes in-order to evaluate quality.
• Routine maintenance of equipment, determining the causes of operating errors and solution.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
• Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools
