Job description

Ninety9cents is a full service, integrated advertising agency located in Cape Town, and is one of South Africa’s largest independently-owned agencies. Led by founder and managing director Andrew Brand, the agency’s extensive client base includes leading brands such as Shoprite/Checkers, Ackermans, PUMA and the Spur Group, to name a few.

We are looking for a detail-obsessed, big thinker, passionate, hard-working, self-motivated ATL copywriter, with the ability to grasp a client’s strategy and brand, and deliver beautiful, insightful, polished work to join our team.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Translate the brief and the strategic requirements into compelling creative solutions
  • Present work to the creative group Head and/or creative director
  • Together with an art director, generate effective, innovative and compelling creative concepts for individual ads or campaigns based on sound strategies
  • Pro-actively identify creative trends and opportunities
  • Direct and produce effective, impactful and compelling advertising that reflects insight into the task, the brand and the target market
  • Write copy and scripts for electronic/digital media
  • Write and produce for radio
  • Direct radio towards a high-quality final product
  • Take ownership of tasks and actively manage the creative process to progress towards deadline
  • Ability to take on campaigns with multi-elements tasks which requires a concept and a thought-through process

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in copywriting and/or advertising
  • At least three years of copywriting experience within an advertising agency
  • portfolio of evidence that reflects creative copywriting proficiencies
  • Proficient in MS Word/PowerPoint/Keynote
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understand advertising as a selling tool

  • Must be willing to work on alcohol brands
  • Flexible to work overtime (if and when required)
