Key Responsibilities
As a Sales Assistant, your primary goal is to create an exceptional shopping experience for every customer that walks into the store. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:
Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet every customer within 30 seconds of entry
- Deliver outstanding customer service based on the Birkenstock customer service protocol
- Identify customer needs and demonstrate product benefits using your technical knowledge
- Maximize sales through closing techniques and suggestive add-on sales
- Build long-term customer relationships and turn shoppers into loyal fans
- Track your sales progress daily to meet personal targets
Inventory Management:
- Replenish stock on the floor with footwear, apparel, and accessories
- Minimize shrinkage through vigilant zoning and adherence to changing room policies
- Ensure stock movement and customer orders are processed accurately in the POS system
- Receive deliveries, check invoices, tag and price items correctly
Daily Store Operations:
- Maintain store cleanliness and appearance daily
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Ensure all counter, floor, and change room areas are tidy and welcoming
Training and Development:
- Take ownership of your training by learning from a mentor and attending quarterly training sessions
- Complete all assessments and meet regularly with your store manager to review your progress
- Work through the Birkenstock rookie pack, which is essential for promotion opportunities
Merchandising:
- Maintain high stock presentation standards
- Replenish sizes and assist with visual merchandising tasks like mannequin displays
- Protect promotional materials and store them properly
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent
- At least 6 months of customer service or retail experience
- Familiarity with the Birkenstock brand is an advantage
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays
