Key Responsibilities

As a Sales Assistant, your primary goal is to create an exceptional shopping experience for every customer that walks into the store. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:

Customer Service & Sales:

• Greet every customer within 30 seconds of entry
• Deliver outstanding customer service based on the Birkenstock customer service protocol
• Identify customer needs and demonstrate product benefits using your technical knowledge
• Maximize sales through closing techniques and suggestive add-on sales
• Build long-term customer relationships and turn shoppers into loyal fans
• Track your sales progress daily to meet personal targets

Inventory Management:

• Replenish stock on the floor with footwear, apparel, and accessories
• Minimize shrinkage through vigilant zoning and adherence to changing room policies
• Ensure stock movement and customer orders are processed accurately in the POS system
• Receive deliveries, check invoices, tag and price items correctly

Daily Store Operations:

• Maintain store cleanliness and appearance daily
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Ensure all counter, floor, and change room areas are tidy and welcoming

Training and Development:

• Take ownership of your training by learning from a mentor and attending quarterly training sessions
• Complete all assessments and meet regularly with your store manager to review your progress
• Work through the Birkenstock rookie pack, which is essential for promotion opportunities

Merchandising:

• Maintain high stock presentation standards
• Replenish sizes and assist with visual merchandising tasks like mannequin displays
• Protect promotional materials and store them properly

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent
• At least 6 months of customer service or retail experience
• Familiarity with the Birkenstock brand is an advantage
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays
