HUNTSMAN:Technical Manager OPPORTUNITY

Well established, leading multi national company in the Chemical Industry, based in KwaZulu Natal Durban is looking for a Technical Manager to join our Site Leadership Team.

Candidate to lead the Process Technical Community on both Site and broader Pigments Business based activities. Develop and lead strategic process & product development initiatives to improve the Site’s manufacturing performance

• Fully contribute to the Site EHS Improvement Programme, leading technical aspects, and demonstrate personal commitment to it
• To Lead the Site Process Safety Management work programme
• As a member of the Site Leadership Team, contribute to the development and implementation of the Site Manufacturing Strategy, Site Improvement Plan and Capital Expenditure plans
• To lead and motivate the Site Technology Team in setting Capital Portfolio Priorities for the delivery of Process Technology improvements in conjunction with the Project Alliance Partner to realise reduced manufacturing cost, improved reliability & quality and increased throughput.
• Facilitate the development and implementation of new products and co-products  in association with R&D and EcoProduct Teams
• Provide support to the identification and elimination of short term manufacturing problems
• Provide Quality Management services and quality improvement programmes ensuring Total Quality Management principles are maintained
• Formulate and agree the process operational policies and practices in collaboration with the Production Managers and monitor adherence to them, to ensure operational consistency and control
• Oversee the professional development of the site’s Process Engineering and Technical community (both direct reports and non-direct reports)
• Manage and motivate staff to establish and maintain a creative environment, supportive of the changes necessary to the Site Improvement Plan, and achieve the required levels of excellence
• Enthusiastically support the development of a service culture & continuous improvement philosophy within the team
  • Manufacturing Cost improvement, particularly variable cost
  • Product quality improvement
  • KPIs are specific to each service area

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering
• Process Safety Experience will be beneficial
• Strong influencing skills.
• Excellent project management skills
• A rigorous approach to the setting and delivery of agreed targets
