About the Opportunity

This full-time internship is part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme, designed to give young South Africans their first work experience. As a Switchboard Operator/Receptionist intern, you’ll gain valuable skills in communication, administration, and customer service while being part of one of South Africa’s leading retail groups.

Key Responsibilities

As the first point of contact for visitors and callers, your daily tasks will include:

• Welcoming visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
• Notifying hosts of visitor arrivals.
• Signing in visitors following company procedures.
• Handling queries promptly and striving for positive resolutions.
• Managing switchboard calls—answering, transferring, and taking messages efficiently and professionally.
• Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
• Updating IT systems with customer complaints, compliments, and queries.
• Performing general administrative duties as needed.
• Representing the TFG brand and values at all times.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this internship, you must:

• Hold a Matric certificate.

Essential Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A strong passion for customer service.
• Good interpersonal abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• The ability to manage conflict professionally and calmly.
