Job description

Reporting to the senior manager – Human Resources, your key performance areas will include:

  • Recruitment, deployment and separations
  • Compensation and benefits
  • Talent management
  • Employee relations (including discipline, grievances, conflict management
  • Training (including leadership development, skills training, internships development and induction)
  • Performance management
  • Employment equity/transformation
  • Provide HR strategic input and professional guidance to the operational leadership; including supporting the development of a Human Resources Plan
  • Provide functional leadership and development of the HR department and resources within the local office, to ensure: * HR services are delivered and administered effectively * HRIS (Premier HR) and other systems and services are utilised efficiently * Corporate policies and procedures, and statutory, compliance is achieved on an on-going basis

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology. A post graduate/specialist qualification (such as employee relations or employment law) would be an advantage
  • At least eight years with minimum of one and a half years at a managerial level
  • Proven track record and evidence of successful implementation and achievement of HR processes
  • A sound knowledge of HR and related sub-disciplines and in particular employee/industrial relations and employment equity/transformation
  • Business partner: A proven ability to devise effective HR and related plans aligned with overall business plans, partner with line managers and guide functional resources with implementation and driving of change processes so as to achieve a high-performance culture
  • Operational excellence: Deep understanding of HR management methodologies and processes, and a proven ability to optimally develop, direct and manage resources in order  to achieve set objectives – especially in the fields of employee/industrial relations and employment equity specifically and transformation/change management generally
  • Business acumen: An understanding of sustainable business principles and demonstrable competence to achieve HR objectives that contribute to productivity and other business targets
  • Personal attributes include: * Energy, resilience and an ability to work under pressure * Very good oral and written communication and negotiations skills * An ability to engage employees at all levels, and partner with internal resources (“team player”) * Good interpersonal skills, confidence and emotional maturity * Flexibility and agility to operate at both management as well as at a practical hands-on level – able to travel to different locations * High level of confidentiality * Commitment to learning, innovation and transformation
