Applications Now Open for Port Worker (FTH) Role at TPT Richards Bay MPT

Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) is inviting applications for the position of Port Worker (FTH) at the Richards Bay Multi-Purpose Terminal (MPT). This non-permanent position is graded HRLYL1 and reports directly to the Operations Manager. The closing date for applications is 17 June 2025.
Position Purpose
This role involves providing essential labour support as directed by a supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment, contributing to optimised cargo operations.
Applicants residing in the King Cetshwayo district will receive preference during the selection process.
Key Responsibilities
Duties of the Port Worker will include:
- Cleaning operational equipment such as crane windows and cabins
- Inspecting container conditions
- Monitoring refrigerated containers (reefers)
- Opening and closing twist-locks on rail wagons
- Loading, off-loading, and securing cargo in line with operational procedures
- Hooking and unhooking cargo
- Tarping and untarping as required
- Placing and removing dunnage
- Cleaning operational areas, rail trucks, workshops, offices, and ablution facilities
- Completing relevant documentation including accident reports
- Identifying correct cargo handling gear and equipment
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 04
- At least 1 year of terminal experience
