Casual Frontshop Assistant – Pearls at Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited, Durban

Role Overview

As a Casual Frontshop Assistant, you will ensure that products are consistently available and correctly presented on the shelves. You will assist customers with purchases, process transactions, and support overall store operations. The role requires adherence to health and safety regulations, company policies, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain full product ranges and ensure all merchandise is neatly presented.
  • Check stock for expiry dates and replenish shelves as needed.
  • Handle customer queries regarding out-of-stock items efficiently.
  • Store delivered stock and organize storerooms.
  • Ensure displays, pricing, and labels are correct, reporting discrepancies to management.
  • Transact purchases and process payments including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty programs.
  • Facilitate exchanges and returns according to store policy.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and adhere to cash flow procedures.
  • Rotate stock regularly and assist with stocktaking and inventory management.
  • Report damaged, expired, or low-stock items promptly.
  • Support loading, off-loading, and unpacking of stock.
  • Provide courteous, professional assistance to customers.
  • Adhere to housekeeping standards and company dress code.
  • Follow health, safety, and operational procedures at all times.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or Senior Certificate.
  • 0 to 6 months retail experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of retail experience.
  • Certification in Retail Business Management.
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
