Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for their Blueberry Square store in Honeydew, Roodepoort, Gauteng. This permanent role focuses on providing pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medicine-related needs are met, and supporting the dispensary in compliance with legal and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines or scheduled substances
• Support compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and SOPs
• Re-package medicines and manage stock distribution for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 substances
• Assist with ordering medicines up to Schedule 6 as authorised
• Accurately interpret prescriptions and prepare, label, and supply medicines under pharmacist supervision
• Capture prescription details accurately and verify patient information
• Ensure accurate picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medications
• Provide patients with clear instructions for correct medication use
• Process medical aid claims and correct errors on rejected prescriptions
• Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop areas
• Maintain and update customer profiles and merge profiles centrally as needed
• Report low stock, stock errors, and facilitate bi-annual stocktakes
• Exercise stock, cash, and asset control in the dispensary

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
• Experience working with Unisolv
• Computer literate, including MS Office
• Strong numerical skills
• Proficient in English and a second language

Advantageous Skills

• Knowledge of Retail or FMCG operations
• Third additional language
• Experience with SAP and E-Scripting
• Knowledge of drug and family planning or complementary medicine
