ZaPOP[PTY]LTD:Production Team Leader Opportunity
ZaPOP is looking to employ a production team leader with a CNC background and strong leadership skills, who is willing to manage between 10 and 20 people. The ideal candidate needs to possess strong interpersonal skills and pull the entire team together to ensure that production targets are met.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify areas for process improvement, cost or waste reduction
- Communicate with other production staff and provide guidance where necessary
- Request approval for any machine tooling required, get quotes on the relevant tools
- Keep work, machine and floor areas clean and delegate tasks to help with this
- Do quality checks on parts before signing off
- Work with the material handler to make sure that material for each job is on schedule and in its proper location
- Be in constant contact with the designers should problems arise, or if design changes need to be implemented
- Call service agents for maintenance-related queries, should it be required
- Optimisation of work processes
- Optimisation of machinery efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide training to production staff where required
- Operate the Punch Press and/or laser machines
- Utilise previously prepared programs/files and assign tooling to complete each job
- Read work orders and instructions and carry out as necessary
- Set up each job based on program instructions/designs, work orders or job prints
- Shear sheet metal to size when required
- Pull tooling and prepare setup for all jobs
- Work in an efficient and timely manner, multitasking when necessary
- Make minor changes to adapt design files/programs, should it be required
- Remove parts from punched sheets as required, manage parts and flow in the workshop area
- Double-check designs/orders/job cards and files so that the correct parts and quantities are always punched/processed
- Manage day to day activities, i.e. the cleaning, scrap, organising and general planning of the day’s/week’s work
- Assist on other machines as required
- Have the job cards signed off when an order is complete and when handing completed goods over to the Warehouse.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Five to ten years’ relevant experience
- Formal qualification will be advantageous
- Strong technical background (especially in CNC manufacturing and machinery)
- CAD knowledge
