STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY:Head – Digital Media Opportunity

The Division Corporate Marketing is responsible for Stellenbosch University’s public relations, institutional communication, marketing and corporate events as well as the management of the institution’s corporate identity. The division offers a dynamic and interesting work environment. Most of the division’s activities are deadline-driven, fast-paced and linked to extended working hours. The digital media team is a unit within the Division Corporate Marketing and is responsible for the management of various electronic platforms used for institutional communication, for example the institutional website, social media and e-notices. There is close cooperation between this unit and marketing and communication, as well as the rest of the campus community.

Duties:

  • Advise the senior director: corporate marketing regarding the role of digital media in realising the strategic goals of the division and institution;
  • manage the application of Stellenbosch University’s corporate public website, mass e-mail communication channels (eg. mass e-mail alerts and invites) and social media platforms to reach SU’s communication goals;
  • exploiting new technologies and trends, in order to keep SU at the forefront of new technologies;
  • creation and implementation of new strategies to use appropriate technologies;
  • liaising and negotiating with various internal and external stakeholders;
  • operational management of the digital media team.

 

Requirements:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or proven in-service training;
  • at least eight years’ experience in the strategic management of a large entity’s web environment;
  • extensive experience in the strategic utilisation of various technological platforms, in order to achieve communication objectives;
  • proven knowledge and experience regarding Microsoft SharePoint 2013 web content management system;
  • extensive knowledge of web and digital media trends;
  • proven negotiation skills.

 

Recommendations:

  • Good written and verbal skills in English and Afrikaans ;
  • good interpersonal skills;
  • ability to cope well under pressure.
