Attorney – ISDA Opportunity

Job description

Our client, a next generation outsourced legal service provider would like to employ an attorney with ISDA experience to support their client in Zurich, Switzerland for six to twelve months. The company has become aware of the changes occurring in corporate law departments and law firms worldwide and is thus looking into providing cost-effective legal services from offshore destinations.

Key performance areas:

• Negotiation of derivatives documentation such as ISDA, GMRA and amendments to such document types
• Due diligence regarding review of constitutional documents and nettings opinions
• The drafting of structured debt products documentation

Qualifications and experience:

• Law degree from a top South African or UK/EU based tertiary institution
• Qualified lawyer (2 – 3 PQE) with expertise in banking and finance or capital markets legal work at a law firm or in-house legal department (preference will be given to candidates with prior exposure to derivatives work)
• Experience drafting and negotiating ISDA master agreements and CSAs
• Experience drafting and negotiating GMRA, GMSLA

Competencies required:

• European passport
• Awareness of current regulatory changes impacting capital markets
• Excellent interpersonal oral and written/ verbal communication skills in English, German advantageous
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Developed skills in legal drafting  as well as with the Microsoft applications
• Ability to work in international environment with understanding of client needs across regions
• Commercial, proactive and business-like mind-set, good time management skills and the ability to operate well in high-pressure environments
• Able to work both independently and as an integral part of a team
• Risk sensitivity and the ability to know when to escalate an issue
