Job description

Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Newzroom Afrika. The incumbent will report to the PCR manager.

Job purpose

The maestro graphics operator is responsible for playing out lower 3rd, full screen and squeeze back graphics

Key responsibilities:

• Work with technical directors and producers to ensure all graphic elements are ready for air: correct spelling and format
• Preview all graphics to confirm accuracy related to graphics elements.
• Coordinate with the producer before each show on graphic needs, i.e. missing or incorrect elements.
• Keep the technical director informed on the availability of each element. The producer & director must be notified of any spelling, functionality, or format errors related to individual graphic elements.
• Coordinate and communicate with the designers on new templates and elements.
• Keeps an eye out for spelling errors within the graphics
• Must be able to troubleshoot and find content on the rundown
• Must be vigilant in removing incorrect GFX

Requirements

• Matric plus a relevant certificate/diploma/degree in a field related to lighting.
• A minimum of two years of experience in a graphics operator role.
• Must have excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Must be an effective learner, with a curiosity and desire to learn and understand the entire scope of needs in the studio and control room.
• Possess a strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities
• Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure in a live environment
• Able to make quick decisions and give accurate instructions during live broadcasts.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Good multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Willingness to work varied shifts.
